The frontispiece is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth, above a smaller illustration of the Spanish Armada. The other plate is between pages iv and 5, titled"The Defeat of the Spanish Armada". Rebound by amateur binder in full leather binding. Recent endpapers. Page dimensions: 208 x 162mm. Printing or paper handling errors causing a blank streak on page 24 and a blank patch on page 28. Uncommon. Worldcat has a copy of this title in which"The life of Mary Queen of Scotland"begins on page 315, followed by other sections. The present copy finishes on page 313 with a tailpiece, the verso of this leaf blank. Small 25mm tears to margins of a few leaves. Paper repair to corner of final leaf, without loss of text. Moderate foxing. No signatures or owner's marks.
